Bird, Vinyl, Mom's blog...

Ok, so had to change my background again this weekend for the lovely FOURTH OF JULY weekend! The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays. I am not really sure way, but I LOVE it! I love the decorations, food, fireworks and everything else! I love that everyone waves our country's flag! I just really like the holiday!

On with my title, what I was meaning to write about on this post. So Saturday I was driving home from work, jut listening to the radio and doing the usual as I drive home...when all of a sudden I hear this big "THUNK" on the car. Then another one right after it, this time I see a bird hitting my windshield. I look in my rear view mirror and see the bird "fly" (not flying with it's wings) until it hits the ground and kind of rolls. It was definitely dead. I was in shock and kind of sad. There are always birds flying in front of us when we drive home, but they usually end up flying up or out of the way so we don't hit them. This is the first time I have hit a bird while it was flying!!! Kind of crazy, huh!

Next on our weekend was what lovely Netflix brought us... "PS I Love you." I have had mixed feelings about this movie. The ending was ok, but the rest of the movie was just kind of depressing. It had heard it was really good and I just didn't think it was unless you want to watch a movie where you are going to cry the whole time! That's ok though, I rented it through Netflix so I don't feel like I have just wasted $5 on renting a bad movie!

We also finally got my vinyl in the mail! (I LOVE getting mail! Not sure why, but I love it!) I ordered it on ebay about a week ago and I have been needing it to finish my dad's Father's Day present! I know, I am bad! It's been two weeks and I haven't given him anything other than a card! Oh well, I do what I can, right? So, I am wanting to do a little vinyl lettering and sell some on ebay. This is going to hopefully be our little side "business" to help us get through podiatry school! I'm pretty excited about it! I have just about everything I need to start, I just need to do it...back to my dad. His is my first one that I have finished! Here is a picture of it! (Nola if you wouldn't mind, try not to let him see this until I can give it to him!)

I think for the most part, it turned out pretty good. The only thing I wish I would have done differently is it the maroon lettering in more of a red, so it would pop out more. Not sure if you guys can read it, so it say "Dill Family...As for me and My House We Will Serve the Lord...Joshua 24:12." What do you guys think? Would you guys buy one of these with your name on it??? Just curious...I am going to hopefully do many different saying. So if you don't like this one, give me some ideas what you might like and would buy on ebay!

Yesterday I helped my mom start her own blog! I am soo excited for her! She hasn't posted anything yet, but hopefully she will soon! I am way excited about that! That pretty much sums up our weekend...what did you do?

Update...

Ok, so I really have no life, I know! I am on here all the time. Oh well, it gives me something to do between classes and while I am at work :)! Ok, so I don't know how I keep getting lucky but some how I got a "B" in my class!!! I'm not sure how this happened, seriously! I knew like maybe 7 questions out of 40 on my test! But I'm not gonna complain! So, Josh got a call today from Des Moines and he has an interview on the 3rd of July! Looks like we won't be going to Idaho or anywhere else that weekend, but that's ok if it betters his chances of getting into school! By getting this interview, it has reassured us that he did well enough on the MCAT to get into just about any school that still has openings! We will keep you all updated on what happens!

Class

YEAH!!! I have just finished another class! I feel sooo relieved! That class was COMPLETELY boring. It may just be the most boring class I have had in college, but that's ok because I am done with it! I probably won't be as happy when I find out what I made in the class though. The final was comprehensive and I studied for maybe an hour! That's ok though! I know only have one class to finish in my college career! My last day of class for that one is July 23! I am almost there! It's so hard to be motivated to study when the end is so close and you are doing it in the summer! I can't wait to be done with school even though I have no idea what is up next for me.

The only other exciting thing that has happened is that we have signed up for Netflix! I am already in love with it. Movies is one of my biggest hobbies (if you want to count it as such a thing)! I love going to the movies, watching movies at home, renting, buying....basically anything that has to do with movies I love! So, I started on Monday and have already gotten my first movie and dropped it in the mail this morning! Have I mentioned how much I love it yet? We got "Juno" as our first movie. I hadn't seen it yet but had heard great things about it! I really liked it too. It was a GREAT independent film! Oh and I have also bought two movies from them since Monday! Their used DVDs are at an excellent price and I LOVE buying movies. I used the excuse that they were either a late Father's Day present or an early birthday present for Josh.

No new news about where we will be headed. Hopefully, we will hear something on Monday! Hope you all have a great day!

MCAT Score

So, I guess the MCAT scores came out early...which means they came out today. Josh did pretty well, I am very proud of him! Now we know a little more of where we are going...well, not quite yet actually. Tomorrow, Josh will call a few of the schools and tell them that they are posted! I am getting very exciting, anxious about moving. Hopefully we will find something out tomorrow! I guess we will just go where ever Heavenly Father has in store for us, so we just have to be patient! I just thought I would update all of you on this little news!

Nothing too exciting!

Ok, so i know most of you might think that I change my blog template quite a bit, but I just can't help it. I was looking on the Cutest Blog on the Block and they have tons of new ones that I hadn't seen yet! They are all WAY cute. It took me forever to choose which one I wanted to use. i was first going to use one for the Fourth of July, but that's still like 2 weeks away and I thought that I might wait a week or two before using on of them in case I get bored.

So, this last week has been completely boring for the both of us. Other than Josh going to his first interview, but we already know about that. This weekend was a pretty boring one too. On Saturday, I worked and Josh with the help from his friend Evan, worked on tearing down a barn. On Saturday, we also learned that we owe about twice as much is our car is worth (trade-in value). That knowledge definitely puts a damper on things. Sunday, I taught our primary and I thought it actually went pretty good with a few exceptions but we won't get into those.

This week will hopefully be pretty good. We find out how Josh did on the MCAT tomorrow!! I am way excited! Once we know the score, then we can hopefully plan a few more things in our life! Another exciting thing that happens this week, is that my EXTREMELY boring class ends!!! I can't wait to get this class over with. Only on more lecture and a test! I do have one more class though. It will be done at the end of July, but it's not near as bad as this other one!

This weekend, we planned some of the rest of our summer out. We are going to be really busy for the rest of the summer. We are thinking of going up to Idaho for the 4th of July, but we're not sure yet. If we don't go, then we will be going camping with my family. We really want to make it out to Idaho this summer and this may be the ONLY weekend that we can go before Josh starts school (hopefully anyways). We do want to wait though because we want to be able to see our new niece who is expected to come into this world later in July. So, we will just have to wait and see what ends up happening. (We are of course waiting for the MCAT score to make our decision.) The next weekend, Josh has an interview in Cleveland and I am throwing my sister's wedding shower! So that will be a busy weekend. The weekend after that is Josh's Birthday!!!! We are going to try to do a Josh-Birthday Party/Dina-Graduation Party that Saturday at our landlord's backyard with the really nice swimming pool! Then the weekend after, my sister, Shawnee, and James are getting married!!! After that, who know where we will be. Hopefully right after the wedding, we will be leaving to go to a podiatry school! But we don't know! We will definitely keep you posted on his schooling! Ok, I guess I will stop rambling. Sorry for the boring post! Next time, I will know Josh's MCAT score though and we might know a little more of what we are doing! YEAH!!!

MICHIGAN!!!

Ok, so I know...I totally lied to you guys. I went home and got doing other things. Sorry for such the long wait. This last weekend, we were suppose to have a Dill family reunion in Michigan, but half of my siblings backed out at the last minute. It was still way fun, but would have been even more so if everyone would have been able to come. On Friday, Josh and I woke up at like four in the morning and began our trek. We were both super tired because neither of us went to be before 12:30 that morning. We ended up leaving a little late, but got to the Tulsa airport at the same time my Dad and Nola arrived. We hurried to check in and ran onto the airplane. We made all of our flights, luckily (you never know when you are flying standby). Both flights were pretty empty though. We got into Detroit at about noon or so. Dad, Josh, Brayden and I all waited at the airport while Nola went to get the van. Nola, of course, had complications with the car rental place, so we were outside for quite some time.

Dad trying to look like the local gangsters outside the airport

Once we were picked up from the airport, we were off. We stopped at a common restaurant in the east called Bob Evans. We ate some very tasty breakfast/lunch. We drove to my grandpa's house where we were staying, which was about an hour and a half away. Since we were all sooo tired, we just took a nap and hung out the rest of the afternoon. Later that night, I went with my dad to pick up Logan, Shawnee and James. On the way there, we got stuck in traffic TWICE at ten o'clock at night! Since when is there traffic at ten o'clock pm?!?!?! The first time was out in the middle of nowhere and traffic was backed up for miles. We thought it had to be an accident....but no, it was a horse! Yes. traffic was backed up for miles because some was walking their horse around near the highway. Something must have happened to the horse/trailer while they were pulling it or something. The second time was because of construction. They had three lanes of traffic blocked! It was just totally crazy, but we finally got there. When we got back to my grandpa's we had pizza!! There is no such thing at a Dill vacation without pizza on the first night!

Saturday is going to be where the craziness begins and ends, luckily. We got up somewhat early and started our drive to Lake Michigan! Yeah, we were all really excited. We got to see lots of farmland on our way there. It was a pretty, but somewhat boring drive. Once we got there, we were ready to go! (Well, after we changed our clothes, packed the things we wanted to take with us and so on.) Here of a few pictures of the before:

My Dad, Nola and Brayden-Smiling and ready to go.

Shawnee and James (not really sure what this is all about)

Josh & I-Smiling and ready to go....or so we thought (oh the smiling didn't last very long!)

James and Josh starting the LONG day

Shawnee on top on one of sand dunes...doing a weird pose as usual.

After climbing the first big hill, we could see lots of sand!

Then we saw the lake!

At the very beginning, when we were all doing ok. This is Shawnee, Logan, Grandpa and me.

Ok, so my dad had the brilliant idea that we would hike the sand dunes to Lake Michigan from Silver Lake (Bad Idea #1). We all thought "ok, that will be fun." And it really could have been fun and I actually did have fun. In our group though, we have 3 three people who had a hard time. My grandpa came, who is 82 years old! He actually did REALLY good. He ended up having to turn have about half way across though because he wasn't feeling very well. I asked my dad if we should be bring water, he said not unless you want to carry it. So, none of us brought water (Bad Idea #2). So we are trekking across the sand dunes carrying Brayden, towels and a few other things. We let my dad navigate (Bad Idea #3) and end up getting a little lost and going WAY out of the way to where we need to be. We all sit and rest and let my dad go ahead and scope out the best way to go. Logan and I see that he is not going to right way and is turning back. So we start going the best way to get there. We leave the group and start trekking across the desert. This is the point where I believe my grandpa turned around. He is diabetic, so Josh let the group to go try and catch up with my grandpa to make sure that he made it to the car safely. They were suppose to meet us at the lighthouse. So, Logan and I are the first ones to reach the lake!! YEAH!! We both jump in and are having the time of our lives! Shawnee and James finally come over the hill and tell us that Josh and my grandpa had turned around and the Nola really needed some water. There was no one near where we were, but we saw a group of people down the beach about half a mile or so. So, Shawnee and I go down there thinking there might be somewhere to buy some water...but no there wasn't. We ask someone is we could just buy a bottle of water from them and they say no, but we could have one! So, we start on our walk back. When we get back to where we had left Logan and James, we see that Nola and Brayden are there but not my dad. I guess my dad had walked up the other way on the shore to see how far the light house was from where we were. It said it thought it was just around the bend. After waiting about 45 minutes for him, we ask some locals how far the lighthouse was and they told us that it was probably about a mile to a mile and a half. So, we start to think that if it is only that far, then my dad she be back by now. So, we decide to start walking in that direction to see if we can find my dad, the lighthouse, Josh and Grandpa. As we are packing up the few things, Nola puts her shoes on, loses her balance and twists her ankle. I have some Alieve with me, so she took some of that. We wait a little while than began our next trek.

After about a mile or so, we are thinking that the lighthouse should be right around there, but there is still no sight of it. By this time, we are all pretty exhausted. I have taken my shirt off and my dad had been carrying it (Bad Idea #4). I know I am getting burned, but can't really do anything about it or so I thought (we actually had my shirt with us the whole time). So, once we think we have gone the distance, we find some other people and they tell us that we have another mile or mile and a half! Oh yeah! Don't forget we have Brayden too! Luckily, we slept pretty much the whole time, but he did get heavy FAST! So, we have nothing else to do but to press forward. We literally felt like the pioneers only in the desert! The wind had picked up and was throwing the sand on our legs which caused great pain! We finally see my dad walking towards us. He brought water with him!!!! Yeah! We were so happy! So far we have walked at least 7-8 miles on SAND! We finally get there and find my grandpa and Josh! We were sooo happy our little trek was over! Yet we were a little disgruntled that it had to happen like this. But no Dill vacation is a true Dill vacation without some craziness like this.

We pile back into the cars and go get something to eat! Yeah for food! We just went to a local diner and had to wait for about an hour! The food wasn't that great, but it was food. We all decide that we want to have some fun on this trip and not just be mad about it. So, we go back to the beautiful Lake Michigan! We wanted to go inside the lighthouse, but we were 20 minutes too late...they had closed! Oh well though! it was beautiful to look at!

Yeah for sisters!

Not sure what this is all about, but I believe he was changing back into his swimsuit

(Yes, Josh was not very happy with his first Dill vacation)

Me on the BEACH!!!

My dad and Grandpa!

So, Josh and James decide to bury Shawnee in the sand! It was a great idea, because I believe this is the only reason she got into the lake. When they tried pulling her out, her legs were buried too deep, so they had to dig them out. Here are a few pictures:

Logan, James, Josh, Shawnee, Dad and I all went swimming in Lake Michigan. Shawnee and my dad didn't stay in very long. But the other three and myself had a blast. The waves were pretty awesome and we really just have a GREAT time. There are no pictures of this, because I was in the lake the whole time...sorry! While we were swimming this is what Brayden did...

We all really did have fun and the day ended on a great note with lots of smiles.

Josh left early on Sunday to go to his interview in Philadelphia! (By the way, he thinks he did really well. We are just waiting on the MCAT score! They will let him know in two weeks!) The rest of us slept in!!!! We were exhausted. We ate lunch, packed up then piled into the van. We drove around the local area and my dad showed us some of the places he went to when he was younger. It was pretty cool. On our way to the aiport, we drove through a town called Chelsea, Michigan. It was a way cute town and it is the home of Jiffy muffin mix! We had to stop and take a few pictures! Pretty awesome..huh?

This picture I feel needs some explanation.

Basically, this is James doing a famous "Shawnee" pose!

This is the old train station in Chelsea.

After walking around for a little while, we find this ice cream store that had tons and GREAT flavors. I tried a few of them and they were all great. Honestly, I think this was the best ice cream I have ever had and that's including Braum's! We all sat outside eating our ice cream! It was a GREAT Father's Day. After that, we headed to the airport! Traveling home was another adventure in itself, but we will save that for another day!

Overall, we had a great family vacation! I'm just curious, but are your family vacations this crazy too? I mean, this is a pretty typical Dill vacation!

Home

Well, we have had one CRAZY weekend. I am currently at work and it would take a very LONG time to write everything that I want to, so I am going to wait til I get home to write about our weekend. I just wanted everyone to know that I have made it home safely…other than my really bad sunburn..OUCH! I am at home by myself right now…Josh is interviewing at Temple University today in Phil, PA! I haven’t been able to talk to him yet today, but I will let you all know how it went. I’m so excited, hopefully things are going well! We did have a very exciting weekend though. Last night, I was home by myself again and there was NO SCORPION!!! Yeah, that made me happy. I actually prayed last night that I wouldn’t get stung or bit by anything while I was sleeping and that pray was definitely answered! I am super tired today! Our plane was about an hour late, and then I got lost in Tulsa, but was able to eventually make it home at 1:15AM! I made it to bed at about two this morning and woke up about 7 to study for my test today…which I got an A on!!! I can’t wait to get home and SLEEP! I didn’t take a lot of pictures on this trip because our batteries kept dying. I guess that is what you get when you buy the cheap batteries. But tonight I will get everything ready to put on my blog and will post it first thing tomorrow, so be looking forward to…it was ONE CRAZY trip and will be a very interesting blog post. Until then…

Early Weekend!

YEAH FOR THE WEEKEND!!! Can you tell I'm excited? I started my weekend a little early. Last night, Josh's softball that was suppose to start at 9:30pm didn't start until 10pm then went into extra innings, so yeah we didn't get home til late. we both slept in a little, then I decided that I didn't want to go to my first class. (My class is BORING, yeah for skipping class!) So, what does Dina decide to do at home when she's skipped her first class and doesn't have to do anything until 2pm when she goes to her next class....she cleans!!!! I know, I am soooo boring! But when I go on vacation, I like to come home to a CLEAN house, so I thought that I would get a head start on it. It really looks awesome! It hasn't been this clean in a LONG time...unfortunately. I know, I'm not much of a cleaner. I then went to class and now I'm at work! But as soon as I leave work, my weekend starts!!!!! I am going to another one of Josh's softball games. Then home. tomorrow we leave to go to Michigan! I'm soo excited. I haven't been to my Grandpa's house in Michigan for a realllllllly long time. And I am sure the weather will be better there. On Saturday we are going to

That's right. Lake Michigan!!!! I have only been there once and it's been about 15 years! I can't wait to go....a lake where you can see your feet no matter how deep you go, sand, SAND, and did I say SAND. I'm totally excited. When we get back, be looking for lots of pictures! Until then!

Happy Birthday Logan!

I just wanted to take today to tell my little brother, Logan, Happy Birthday! Today he turns 19 years old! Kind of crazy to think about! Growing up, he was my only sibling that was younger than I; therefore, the only one I could really pick on. We fought probably more than cats and dogs but as we have both matured, he is the BEST brother and one could ask for. If you need help with ANYTHING, even scorpions, he is there willing to help! Thanks for everything Logan! And Happy Birthday to YOU! I hope this one is one of the best. Our Mom is out of town, so I took it upon myself to do something with my other siblings in Stillwater to celebrate his birthday. It's turning out to more of a hassle, but it's all worth it if it makes Logan have a good birthday. Happy Birthday Logan!

Sorry for the nasty picture, but it's the only one on my computer that has both Logan and I in it.

Well, as for our weekend, it was pretty much exactly like I thought it was...BORING! We just sat and cuddled on the couch watching a movie on Friday. On Saturday, we both went to work. I came home early though because I just wasn't feeling well. So, all I did on Saturday was sleep and watch "Harry Potter." On Sunday, Josh grilled some AWESOME steaks and I made mashed potatoes and stuffing! It was a GREAT dinner. We worked on a puzzle all this weekend and finished it late last night. That is pretty much our weekend. How was yours?

Happy National Donut Day

I just wanted to tell everyone "Happy National Donut Day." Yes, that is right today is National Donut Day. I guess it is celebrated on the first Friday of June every year. Here are some Fun Facts about donuts:
  • In the Us alone, more than 10 BILLION donuts are made each year.
  • The largest donut ever made was an American-style jelly donut weighing 1.7 tons, which was 16 feet in diameter and 16 inches high in the center.
  • Per capita, Canada has more donut shops than any other country.
  • The hole in the donut's center appeared in the first half of the 19th Century.
  • In 1917, Salvation Army female volunteers known as “lassies” prepared thousands of fresh donuts to the homesick soldiers that served in France during World War I. National Donut Day was officially established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to raise much-needed funds during the Great Depression.

Yes, that is right. The most exciting thing that I can write about is donuts! The funny thing is that I work at a Police Department, so you would think that on this very special day that someone would have brought donuts in...but NO ONE did. Oh well, I don't really need to eat tons of donuts anyways.

Well, as stated earlier this week has really brought no excitment into our lives. We've been REALLY busy, but not with anything that is fun. I started my last two classes this week and BOTH of them are extremely BORING. I don't even know how I am able to stay awake in one of them. The other isn't so bad but nothing exciting. It's going to be a really long 7 more weeks!

The only other thing that was really crazy this week was the weather in Oklahoma. That's nothing really new because it is always crazy here, but it has been REALLY crazy lately. All day yesterday the wind was blowing HARD! I have no idea how fast, but I saw tons of decent size trees that had been split apart because of the wind. It was pretty crazy. Last night there were huge storms. Lightning filled the sky so often that you could have been confused about whether it was day/night. I wanted to take pictures but Josh keeps leaving the camera at work...grrrrrr. We actually didn't get too much rain though, which really surpised me. Oh and Josh's softball team won a game last night. This season they have now won three games!! They didn't get to play their second game last night because of the weather. Oh and I forgot to mention that the team that they did beat last night had beat them a few weeks ago and the score of that game was like 33-17. So, good job to all of them!

Well, that concludes all the excitement for this week. Maybe something will happen this weekend, but I doubt it. Our plans are to help my sister move and for me to work all day Saturday! What are your plans this weekend?
